The Gallery – Emotions

This week’s prompt a the Gallery is Emotions:

Pip Squeak learning about emotions (in German)

Pip Squeak is reading Nicole Smee’s “Gesichter machen”. It is a lovely book – that tells the story of a little boy playing with his ball when the big bear comes… each page or stage of the story is accompanied by a “Happy Face” or a “Surprised Face” or a “Scared Face” etc – perfect for talking to your children about emotions, why we feel them (the bear is coming: scared)  and how we show  them on our face (eyer brows up, mouth down).  At the end the little reader is rewarded with their own face in a mirror.

Both Red Ted (2.5yrs) and Pip Squeak (7mths) benefit from the book. Pip Squeak LOVES the faces and of course the mirror and Red Ted listens to the stories and learns about emotions. It is lovely how they are currently enjoying a range of books together, albeit for different reason!

A perfect session on Emotions in the Red Ted household!

Showcasing – Emily’s Hippo

I thought it would be nice to showcase some of my artwork for children every so often. Today, I have picked Emily’s Hippo, as I seem to get a lot of search engine hits on it and it appears to be very popular. I painted it for Emily’s 1st Birthday and her mother picked the colours to go with the nursery decor of Emily’s room. We fiddled with the eyes and tail until it was just right for Emily! That is what my bespoked artwork is all about! Enjoy!

I think it was the excitment of discovering how much she loves books! As Nr 2 baby she gets far less book time than Nr 1 baby!! Will have to make more of an effort!!!!
